Would You Buy Anything From Hitachi?
Here’s a story of recent about Goof buying a 42" plasma just over three years ago and now it is on the way to the dump.
This Hitachi Plasma 42PMA300A which cost me over $4000 only lasted three years. Started with just buying the unit from JB-Hifi when the unit was delivered they had been short the speakers, the driver said it would be a few weeks for them to come, well, 8 weeks later they finally arrived. When the delivery driver came we had told him about when we first switch it on there is a lot of sparkling throughout the screen. He then said that does not sound right so we had rang Hitachi's themselves, after being bounced around we finally got hold of a technician and explained the events. We were told that it was normal. As the time went by, well a week before the one year warranty ran out the Plasma went blank. Had sound but no picture so off it went to get fixed, waiting, waiting, waiting to get the unit back., I can tell you it wasn't weeks before we got this piece of S#@t back! The delivery driver brought it into the house and set the unit up which was great but then switches the thing on, well you guessed it, it had pretty sparkles around the screen, and the installer stated that it wasn't normal for that to happen. So here we go again calling Hitachi technicians and telling us that’s normal until it warms up. Now three years later It had done the exactly the same thing again, no picture with sound. Now I have sneaky suspicions about the first time it got sent away to get fixed that it may not be totally truthful that they just replaced a circuit board in it. Now the screen is stuffed which means it will cost me $2000 to get it fixed, well what a joke, I cannot afford that so off to the dump it goes. That is not the end of the story, I had then contacted Hitachi many of times to explain why I was a pretty pissed off about the unit with only one response and that was they will look in to it. I then kept ringing and ringing the head office in the city and once again same as the last response "we will see what we can do". Well weeks went by and I kept ringing and finally I get an email stating that the unit is out of warranty and they cannot do anything for me. Didn't even have the balls to ring me.
